Can Roofers Work During the Cold Season?

The winter season can be unpredictable, so homeowners should prepare ahead of time to ensure they are safe from any issues during the colder months. However, roof concerns can be inevitable. We’ll discuss whether or not roofers work in the snow in this post.

Is It Okay to Do Roofing in the Winter?

Experts say yes. Homeowners can schedule a roof replacement during this season, too. However, there are obvious reasons why you should not plan your projects like this in the middle of the winter season. The project will only be successful when carried out by trained and experienced personnel.

Things You Should Know

  • Winter conditions still make rooftops slippery, and roofers are vulnerable to extreme weather just like everyone else. Moreover, it should be noted that asphalt shingles need to be installed under certain conditions as they are more susceptible to cracking in cold weather.

  • Metal roof installations are different from other materials. As mentioned, shingles projects are risky during lower temperatures. This is because of adhesives. Metal, however, doesn’t use these adhesives, so winter has no impact on our process. Water cannot travel upward due to the design of metal roofing. And, snow typically slides off the metal materials, lessening the risk.

  • Spring is guaranteed to be the best season to have your property sold. This is proof that having your roof replaced or at least fixed during the winter season can still be beneficial. After all, contractors can give you a discount on both labor and materials during this time of the year.
